What is the OD Salon?

The OD Salon started in March 2019 as a social gathering of 10 people at a small bar in Lower Manhattan. Since then, it has grown into a network of over 600 like-minded Organization Development and “OD-adjacent” practitioners with diverse backgrounds in the applied behavioral sciences. The purpose of the event is to bring people together to network and share ideas as they relate to the field of Organization Development so that we can better support each other to join forces and have an impact on our world. We meet monthly, coming together over (zoom) food and drink to strengthen and build a strong inter-connected community of practitioners.

Come and join the conversation! You are welcome whether you’ve been in the field for 20 years or are just discovering it.

Meet Your Host

Kai Stowers is a consultant and coach who plays in the intersection of OD and diversity, equity, and inclusion. He is an International Coaching Federation (ICF) Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and has a master’s degree in Organizational Psychology and Change Leadership from Columbia University.

In his former life, Kai had a career as a chemist. While he was fascinated by the technical challenges of developing life-saving therapeutics, he became increasingly interested in helping leaders dismantle the barriers to full inclusion within their organizations. He partners with you to develop evidence-based and heart-centered strategies spanning the intrapersonal and interpersonal to the structural.

Kai has worked with for- and non-profit organizations including Genentech, Infineon Technologies, eBay, the Human Rights Campaign, and CapEQ Impact Advising.

Meet The Founder

Julian Chender has been in the field of OD since 2013 and has made a point of meeting and connecting as many people as he can. He is passionate about creating ways in which people can learn about and advance in the field of OD.

Chender started out as a Marketing Manager at Cook Ross, a Diversity & Inclusion firm just outside of DC before switching to an internal OD role in Leadership Development at the National Institutes of Health. There he developed programs based on the New Sciences of the 21st Century, weaving positive psychology, complexity science, and dialogic practices into a two-month program for mid-senior-level leaders. In 2019, he moved to New York City to work at Veldhoen + Company, a Dutch firm specializing in creating a better world of work at the confluence of culture, technology, and physical space. In 2021, Chender joined Kates Kesler, part of Accenture, as an Organization Design Fellow. He also sat on the national OD Network’s Board of Trustees from 2019-2021, where he founded the Emerging Practitioner Program, and was awarded their Emerging Practitioner OD Award in 2020.
